A Raspberry in Paris Rooibos

A raspberry in Paris. So, what exactly does a raspberry do in Paris? Well, after visiting the Louvre, seeing the Mona Lisa, going to the top of the Eiffel tower, and strolling down the Champs Elysée, all good raspberries in Paris end up in a nice jam. The French you see are among the world’s great lovers of jam. In Paris, raspberry jam is most often found spread over butter on a sliced baguette or baked inside a croissant. The delicately flavored Rooibos blend we offer here was developed to invoke the mellow flavor of this French treat. Besides being delicious, this herbal tea is also incredibly good for you.

Raspberries contain elegiac acid, a substance in the family of tannins, a phytonutrient, and are subsequently considered by some nutritionists to be a good source of antioxidants. You’ll notice upon opening the packet that includes a generous portion of dried raspberry pieces to ensure that the goodness of the fruit passes on to the tea. Rooibos itself is also an incredibly nutritious natural delight. A 200 ml of brewed Rooibos contains nutrients such as: Iron, essential for transport of oxygen in the blood, Potassium, Calcium, necessary for strong teeth and bones, Copper, Zinc, necessary for normal growth and development of healthy skin, Magnesium, Fluoride, necessary for strong teeth and bones, Manganese and Sodium, necessary for fluid and acid-base balance.

So, brew a pot of A Raspberry in Paris Rooibos today and picture yourself in a fruit stall in Montmartre, basket in hand picking up a pound or two of the succulent red berries. Their Sweet flavor mixes with the herbal tones of Rooibos in a way that can only be described as très sympathique!

HOT BREWING METHOD:

Bring filtered or freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose tea for each 7-9oz / 200-260ml of fluid volume in the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the teapot. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea). Add milk & sugar to taste. Ideal Brewing Temperature: 100ºC/212ºF.

ICED TEA BREWING METHOD

(Pitcher): (to make 1 liter/quart): Place 6 slightly heaping teaspoons of loose rooibos into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 1¼ cups/315ml over the rooibos. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the brewed rooibos into your serving pitcher, straining the rooibos. Add ice and top-up the pitcher with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste. A rule of thumb when preparing freshly brewed iced rooibos is to increase the strength of the hot rooibos brew since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water.

(Individual Serving): Place 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose rooibos into a teapot for each serving required. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 6-7oz/170-200ml per serving over the rooibos. Cover and let steep for 5 minutes. Add hot rooibos herbal tea to a 12oz/375ml acrylic glass filled with ice, straining the rooibos. Not all of the tea will fit, allowing for approximately an additional ½ serving. Sweeten and/or add lemon to taste. A rule of thumb when preparing freshly brewed iced rooibos is to increase the strength of hot rooibos since it will be poured over ice and diluted.

We strongly recommend using filtered or freshly drawn cold water brought to a rolling boil when brewing all types of tea. Today’s water has been known to carry viruses, parasites and bacteria. Boiling the water will kill these elements and reduce the potential incidence of water-borne illnesses.
