Blooming Tea – Luxurious Hand-Tied Green Tea from Yunnan

Blooming tea is both a visual art and a sensory experience, and few regions in the world are better suited to produce it than Yunnan, China. 3 Flower Burst is a handcrafted blooming tea that celebrates Yunnan’s unmatched traditions of tea cultivation and flower growing—bringing beauty, flavor, and craftsmanship together in one unforgettable cup.

Yunnan is China’s southernmost province and one of its most ecologically diverse regions. Situated just below the Tropic of Cancer, it receives abundant sunlight throughout the year, creating ideal growing conditions for both tea plants and flowering botanicals. For more than a decade, Yunnan has been China’s leading flower-producing region, accounting for nearly 45% of the country’s annual floral exports. Jasmine, lily, and osmanthus flourish here, developing intense natural fragrance and exceptional quality.

At the same time, Yunnan is one of the most famous tea-growing regions in the world. Its high-altitude gardens produce green teas prized for their freshness, clarity, and depth of flavour. 3 Flower Burst blooming tea brings these two legacies together in a single handcrafted creation.

Each blooming tea bundle is made by skilled tea artisans who carefully hand-tie lily, osmanthus, and jasmine blossoms inside full-leaf Yunnan green tea. The tea leaves are gently steamed to maintain their vibrant green character, then wrapped around the flowers and tied by hand. As the bundle dries, the flowers are held within—waiting to bloom when hot water is added.

When brewed, the blooming tea slowly unfurls in the cup or teapot, revealing a beautiful floral display. Watching the tea open is a calming, almost meditative experience, making this tea ideal for special moments, guests, or quiet personal rituals.

The flavour is just as impressive as the presentation. The liquor is bright and clean with a smooth green tea body. Subtle peach-like notes emerge naturally from the tea leaves, while layered floral aromas of jasmine and lily rise gently from the cup. The osmanthus adds a soft sweetness that balances the florals without overwhelming the palate. The result is a refined, elegant blooming tea that is fragrant, refreshing, and easy to drink.

This blooming tea is naturally low in caffeine, making it suitable for afternoon or evening enjoyment. It can be re-steeped multiple times, allowing you to enjoy both the visual bloom and evolving flavour over several infusions.

HOT BREWING METHOD:

Place one ball in your teapot and add water that is roughly 194’F/90’C. Infuse until the ball is fully open, usually about 3-5minutes. Watch the long leaves unfurl to reveal the hidden flower treasure.

ICED TEA BREWING METHOD

Not generally consumed iced but if you do (1qt/lt): 3 balls in a heat resistant pitcher. Pour 1 1/4 cup/315ml boiling water on tea. Steep 5 minutes. Quarter fill serving pitcher with cold water. Add ice, fill with cold water, garnish & sweeten to taste.

We strongly recommend using filtered or freshly drawn cold water brought to a rolling boil when brewing all types of tea. Today’s water has been known to carry viruses, parasites and bacteria. Boiling the water will kill these elements and reduce the potential incidence of water-borne illnesses.
